Altering trousers to fit me from a size 37 to 35?

I tried on some slim fitting RL suit trousers that were 35, and were a bit too big, and required some alterations. I am now trying to buy a slim fitting RL suit and it only has a size 37 trouser. The jacket fits great, it is just an issue with the trousers. Is it a bad idea to try and get these altered to fit me?

Thanks.

I'm not a tailor, but 2 inches is about the limit that I would trust a trouser waist could be taken in without too much problem. I imagine the legs might need to be slimmed as well. You should probably talk to your tailor to make sure he/she is comfortable doing all this.

My tailor has told me multiple times that it's easier to let pants out than take them in.

I think the seat is hard to get right when you take that much in. You may not be able to ever take the jacket off!
