Almost spent $410 on Ferragamo loafers. Please advise.

Almost did. They were comfortable, "made in Italy" or what have you, they looked damn good for a casual night out kind of thing... but they were $410 and there was no discounting to be found, even online.

I have been looking around sites for something less expensive... I'm looking for a dark brown or black suede casual loafer with some sort of bit decoration similar to these. I also wear wide shoes - these Ferragamos in 2E fit me only because this was a wider cut shoe, I normally wear 3E.

I can be talked out of buying them, but I'll need your help.

For that money I would be looking for something sleeker and dressier for a 'night out'. Those would be best for sweeping out the garage on a weekend or walking the dog.

Sator: What do you think of the same shoes in black calfskin?

I don't want to look too terribly formal. These loafers in particular, since they have leather soles.... :? ON EDIT: I love Bluefly to death, but finding EE/EEE there sucks.

I have a pair of Rockports that I paid $50 for in the closeout rack, in the exact same style, sans the buckle which I don't really like anyway. At the time I was comparing them to some Hugo Boss loafers and the difference was the toe on the Hugo Boss loafers was a little narrower which is better looking, but these are knock around saturday morning errand shoes, also for days I have a hangover.

I would look for something else for $400.

Thankfully, I didn't buy them. Now, looking back, I really liked the look, but certainly not for $400. I'm sure I can find a buckle/bit suede loafer somewhere for a lot cheaper.

What do you think of the RLPL loafers available for approx. $200, made by the same factory as Gucci?
