The BB MacNeils have a double sole, but in addition also have the rubber topy and a dove tail heel. Here are two pictures of my chili BB MacNeil's (sorry I don't have a picture of the soles):

Perfect! Thanks for posting the pics. These are much better than the ones on BB's website. Would you say that the colors on your pictures are fairly accurate (the ones on BB's website seem a bit more orange)?

Also, I'm guessing that the fit is a bit wider than the 5-last?

Those pictures were taken under fluorescent lighting in my office so the colours may be a bit washed out. They are a little more orange in sunlight but not too much. Maybe someone on here can post a picture of chili in natural light?

I regret to say that I don't own any 5-last shoes so I am unable to compare fit!

I find the BB MacNeils to fit very slightly wider than the 5-last, but it's pretty negligible for me. The toe box of the MacNeil is lower than my 5-lasted shoes. I'm not sure if it's due to the last or the poron padded insole.

Here are a couple of indoor pics I had posted before:

In general, it would be better to order firsts if they do not cost much more than seconds. The most important thing is to get shoes that fit well (are comfortable) and that you love. The ones on clearance are a mix of grained leather and smooth leather. If you love that, then it is a good price. If you would prefer a shoe to be 100% smooth calf leather, I would advise to wait for a deal on the Fifth Avenue or Strand. Some may argue either way regarding the aesthetics and versatility of the choices you are presenting. Ultimately, it is up to you to decide what style you love and will get good use of. Also, be sure the shoes fit well.

I apologize if this has already been mentioned, but can anyone confirm if shells will be on sale during the rediscovering America sale. If so, any word on what the discount will be? I'm debating if I should buy now during the webgem special or wait for the sale coming up. thanks

wtf is up with all these aldens recently??? I unsubscribed from the shoeporn thread so I wouldn't have to look at mac's old legs, and clunky aldens... This is an Allen Edmonds appreciation thread. I don't mind the occasional alden vs AE post... but it's getting out of hand

Thank you so much! Are those Aldens or AE's?

Pretty sure those are AE...
yeah those are AE... wasn't referring to those... Sorry about the whining, but there is nothing that bugs me more than "fill in the blank Aldens x argyles... wear in good health, uncle/nephew" Every time I see a pair of Aldens I have nightmares about Mac's old, age-spotted legs.
