Thanks to all for chiming in.

What--if any--is my recourse? Wear them only on the 50º days in the winter here with thick, scratchy wool socks? Leather sole inserts? Sell them altogether on the popular auction site? These fit a full size large when compared to my (comfortable) 65-lasted shoes, as if I'm wearing a 14E in this Hamilton that is marked 13D.

I'd sell them, but not on the 'bay: I'd list them in the Buy & Sell thread here on Style Forum (link in top menu) and post a link to that listing in the AE B/S/T thread (here); it's free to list, and there are no fees when you sell (aside from the transaction fee that PayPal charges). I've sold 5 pair of boots or shoes here in the last year or so, with only one snag (which had nothing to do with SF, the buyer, or PayPal; UPS lost the shoes, so I had to refund the buyer, but I eventually got the money back from UPS, minus the PayPal fee).

If you’ve only worn them inside on the carpet, and haven’t marked up the soles, you could return them.
I wear the same size on 65-last boots as I wear in shoes. There is some variation in fit between pairs, but it does not appear to be “shoe versus boot.”

These were a completely great purchase. I love this colour.

Nuthin' wrong with high-top Chucks

I keep a couple pairs of SMU Chucks right next to the Shell AEs in the closet.

Apologies in advance if this is improper. I thought there was an AE B/S/T thread but I can't seem to find it. Please see the 3 shoes pictured below and let me know if interested. All are 1st quality shell's and I am the original owner. The Aldens are the Brooks Brothers make with the coveted piping on the heels. Both AE'S are custom makes from trunk shows. Both are Natty Shell, which I believe AE stopped using (even for trunk/MTO). I guess that makes these ? .

Price is $400 each and all are 9D. Any two for $750 and all 3 for $1,100. Prices are firm and include domestic shipping but exclude PayPal fees.
