First time out in 2019 for these almost NOS black insole macneils I picked up about a year ago now. Trying to rotate the collection a little more evenly of late.

First wearing of these - very comfortable and the toe box reminds me of some Hampton - lasted Aldens I have.

Rest of the outfit (sans blue sport coat).

After Moh’s surgery removed a nickel-sized circle of skin off of my scalp, my dermatologist and my regular doc said I need to wear a hat whenever I go out (paying for a lifetime in the sun). Now I’m busting out hats I’ve had for years, including this panama I got about 15 years ago.

I have a couple of Panamas, a trilby and half a dozen flat caps I wear to work regularly, but once you wear spectators it magically turns any brimmed hat into retro cosplay. I’m fortunately at an age I don’t care.

Went fairly casual today. There’s a huge range here from suits all the way down to shorts/sandals. A few Strands spotted, but as usual the shoe scene is grim.

The outfit:

Great pairing

Nothing better than shell shoe pics, other than shell+dog pics! Two of my favorite topics

I had most of my left cheek removed via MOhs back in 14. Doc told me the same thing about wearing a hat. My wife is on me about it constantly--of course, she also says hats make guys look old, and at my age, I don't want to look any older. So she's mixing her message.

Anyway, I have resisted hats because I have a fat head and a full head of hair, so I need a big size (7.58 or 7.34) and they tend to make my noggin look gigantic (as well as older). Any suggestions on a style of panama for a large noggin?

$189 for some models I haven't heard of. Are these outlet only models?

https://www.hautelook.com/events/297026

I'm not familiar with the retailer but I guess they're affiliated with Nordstrom rack

Offering limited-time specials, one could say they are akin to being the "Massdrop" of Nordstrom/Nordstrom Rack.

The "Grandview" shown is the recently discontinued "Leiden". I have a pair in walnut (purchased from Nordstrom) that are solid.

From what I've seen and learned here, the Clarkston, with it's elongated cap, gives way to creasing within the cap itself and which some find unsightly.

On these and the rest, other more experienced members can fill you in.

Everyone’s glorious shell models are giving these calf Macs an inferiority complex. Maybe it’s the silly laces...]

My parents were afraid I had an inferiority complex and sought help. After a year of weekly therapy sessions my psychologist told my parents it was not a complex; I was just inferior.

I have a big noggin (7 1/2), so I get where you’re coming from. The only advice I can give you is to try some hats on and see if you can get input from your spouse and you might want to look for a brim of 2.25” to 2.5”, as that would be more proportional to your melon.
