To follow up on a conversation about the Surrey collection: the burnishing on the toe wasn’t bad at all on the floor model at my nearest AE. Unfortunately they didn’t have my size in-stock so I didn’t try one on, so I can’t speak to the fit issues we discussed upthread

Also, unrelated: if anyone is interested in Leiden weave in walnut, Amazon has them for $178. I’m assuming AE would price match items sold directly by Amazon. (Dark chili — which is gorgeous — is full price. :( )

In the push for 2400, it seems most anything goes, so here is an off topic report. I started a shoe rehab project with vintage Florsheim LWBs and started it with water reshaping the shoe. The remainder of this is spoilered.

I was inspired by @anchorman12 and his quest to get a black LWB with white contrast stitching and a natural edge. @davidVC posted pictures of the shoe originally and I have several that @anchorman12 sent to me. With all credit to him, here are several pictures of the final product. These have been grinding on me and the more I look at them the better I like the changes.

Well after some false starts with a pair of Hanovers, I finally found a nice pair of nice Florsheim 92604 black LWBs to use for the changes. I already had a really nice stock pair of this model, and I wanted to find a pair that cost far less for these alterations. The shoes arrived and, although they are in good condition, they suffer from vamp rolls and need some reshaping.

After discussing it with David, I elected to reshape them with water, per the instructions on the vcleat.com site. Those instructions can be located here. After a good soaking for an hour, I have inserted the very tight shoe trees and started the reshaping process. The vamp rolls appear to be changing nicely.

When I get these dried out, I will be shipping them off to Bedos leatherworks for the new soles, edges and welt stitching as phase 2 of the changes.

Its Jodox. Fun fact, its a smash-up of Jodhpur and Oxford. #2400 <--Hope you're all happy now.
One of my faves, the Jodox was an old school AE model from the ‘50s to the ‘90s(brought back for a fee years recently),I read somewhere that it was based on WWII officers shoes that AE made-cool fun fact!

Jet-stream 2017 #5: Bourbon Hanover. These popped up for a crazy price on shoebank and I grabbed them within hours. An enigma for me: I like wholecuts, love bourbon, and really love the 333 - it’s probably my second-best fitting last in any shoe, and easily my best in AE.

Despite all this, they haven’t made it into my rotation, though I got them in late March. I just don’t reach for them. I need to evaluate whether they should go back - they would still be considered “new.” Thus, no photos.

Jet-stream 2017 #6: Massdrop Chukka in Chocolate Suede (reverse suede form Janus). Not overhyped here at all. These are amazing. I didn’t think I was a Chukka guy, but these get worn more than any other AE I own. As @orange fury has stated, it’s like wearing a sock that has a sole. Would easily be my best AE buy of 2017 if not for some of the Shell magic in December.

Looks awesome with jeans.

A great travel shoe.

Jet-stream 2017 #7: Academy in Natural CXL.

I had wanted something in Natural CXL for a while, wanted a shoe that could be used in weather, and needed something that could dress down. Not sure how much this may conflict with the Badlands coming in but I think there is a place for both.

This and #8 were pretty much simultaneous and broke a 6-month or so AE dry spell.

It sounds like it’s got everything you like. Why don’t you wear them?

Jet-stream 2017 #8: Bloor Street in Brown Grain. Made for Harry Rosen by AE, basically a Hopkinson without the Indy leather and with a combination sole and poron. Those last two points are important for me. I needed another foul-weather option for work, and poron makes the 201 work very well for me (in balmorals, don’t need it in boots). This was part of the BF sale and these were no-brainers at $99. Some may view the more casual leather as incongruous with the formal style, but I like the juxtaposition personally.

Haven’t worn them yet, but no hesitation - these will be in the rotation.

Jet-stream 2017 #9: Natural Shell Strands. Thanks again to Ashley - these were already a steal at the $325 seconds price. When you add in the Amex promo, I did pretty well here.

Haven’t worn them yet due to weather, but there is no suspense - they are in.
