I must wait for the MD drop version. I must wait for the MD version. I must wait for the MD version. (Or exotic shell. Or exotic shell. Or exotic shell.)

Dude, if you're picking only one, hold off for the MD- the suede is like butter, and the shoe feels like a slipper. It'll make you want to wash your donkey.

That said, the barnweasel thing to do would be to get both- just don't forgo the MD in favor of the other one.

I 100% agree with this.

It's wet outside today. That sounded like a good enough reason to wear my Strandmoks.

Are these black or blue? They look black but I thought the sole was different on black.

Really? You would recommend the MD over a rare trunk show shell color? I want to get in on the next drop and hopefully get both if a show happens. If I was told I could only have one it would have to be shell.

I am a low arched guy, actually have issues of too much volume, so take this with a grain of salt: my 1st Aves seem to have same or tighter instep than the HM. Off the top of my head the grain pair is equal, though that leather seems to have more give then the (newer) cxl HMs. My walnut FAs are certainly tighter, but those were 3rds from our fav ebay seller - so could be production issue.

Thanks for the info. I also tried the Sutter Mill (1757) without luck. I haven't tried the Liverpool or Normandy. I'm a"C" width now, so there's another issue I'm having with AE boots, as they don't make a "C" width boot. I've worn shoes on the 511 last since the '80s, just can't wear the boots. I'd like to hear if anyone has tried stretching an AE boots instep, or if that is even possible to do with a reasonable chance of success.

Quote: I'm weird, but for me a chukka is suede, or maybe a really casual leather like a brown or natty CXL. Anything else just doesn't look right to me. (this coming from a guy who doesn't like nuts in almost any food and zero desserts/candy, but really likes nuts as a snack, so...)

I'm with you. Cashews only and none on my food. Even the drumstick ice cream my wife buys with no nuts. A shell Dundee is gorgeous though.

Have you asked AE if they can make you a one of in a C width? If they have the C lasts, there is a chance they can make you a model they don't normally sell in C. If there is a store you normally go to or SA you know, I would definitely explain your situation and see if they can make it happen.

Ugh 199 for mcallisters is tempting but I don't know my size. International returns and exchanges make it really difficult :(

Certain lasts, like the 511 and 65, have C-widths that you should be able to special order through a sales associate. Most newer lasts do not have this.
