How do y'all feel about the 'button down shirt has every button buttoned but no tie' look? While historically I've been against it, I recently did this with a cardigan and thought it looked awesome. I've also not really seen this around on the streets (I live in NYC), so I also found it kind of unique. What do you think?

That look is pretty popular in the UK at the moment. Try searching google for 'geek chic'.

Very very popular in London with people trying to be a bit indie- I'm not really a fan.

Really depends.

It looks good on slim/skinny people with mini/small collar shirt in a euro designer look.
Some euro designer creates the shirts to be worn in that way.
I remembered the look could be commonly seen in past few year's designer runway show.

I personally like that look, just a shirt or under a simple jacket or cardigan.

With this look, it seems like you're purposely creating discomfort with no reason to (necktie). I think it would be hard to converse with a guy who did this and take him seriously.
