I loved that too. The pilot for Magnum PI basically is a movie. For years, a Magnum movie was in the works, but it was based on contemporary political/military problems. By the time people got around to doing something about the movie, it was no longer current, so the studio scrapped the idea. Now, they'd probably say Selleck is too old.

Would make an interesting conversation....who would play a good Magnum PI?? I think if he could grow a mustache, John Hamm (Don Draper) would be a decent start.

Who would play Higgins?

I had never seen Starsky & Hutch and then I saw the movie with Ben Stiller and thought it was hilarious.

How about Manimal - the movie?

James Marsden, perhaps. I think he could pull off the goofy/serious dichotomy necessary for the role.

Strangely, I find this one tougher than casting the lead. The problem is, if we're going to set it in contemporary times, Higgins would have to be OLD. He needs the war experiences the old Higgins had, but he couldn't possibly have obtained the same experiences and come out the same old-school British soldier from Vietnam or the Falkland Islands. Maybe Ian McKelland (with some makeup)?

Well then we'd know how Higgins had left the military...

We'd need someone fatter too... Caine has a monopoly on old British assistants in hollywood... maybe his old buddy Terry Stamp (who is not fat but looks like someone who's been around the block) could do it.

Stamp usually comes across as too gritty, but Hopkins is a very interesting suggestion. I'll get right on this.

I wonder if Rampage will be in a high speed chase in this movie. He wouldn't need much rehearsal.

IMMSMC that was a low or medium speed chase. He hit several parked cars and was swerving around.

Gotta hand it to the guy though for driving like that in a vehicle with his name and picture on it.
