I'm splitting for the weekend to visit some friends. I communicate with my ex gf via email a few times a week just to keep each other updated. So, I mentioned that I was going to be in the area visiting friends for the weekend when she suggested we get together for a drink. I haven't seen her or heard her voice in six months. I don't think I have any expectations going into this, but I couldn't say for sure. Good idea or bad? What say you e-buddies?

How was the break up? Were the reasons heavy and multiple? Is so, bad. If on good terms, is she seeing someone yet? If not, could be good. Could be reunion booty involved.

The break up was sort of bad at first. We lived together for a couple of years. After the initial blow, we still hung out everyday (even though we no longer shared living space) and had drinks, had dinner, or walked our dogs. So, when everything was said and done, it was fairly amicable.

The reason for our split is my occasional ineptitude at life. I was a selfish prick. In hind sight, I did a lot of dumb **** - no infidelity, but dumb **** nonetheless. I know this sounds crazy, but even if booty would on the table, I wouldn't do it. As everyone knows, that does strange things to the dynamic of relationships.

You know, I thought you were okay until you posted that. Now I think you're crazy.

Okay, that said, some people are meant to be friends, others are meant to be lovers. Such is life.

Don't get me wrong, I'd love to and if it really were on the table, I suppose I'd have to give it some serious thought. I just don't want to overstep my bounds. Does that make sense?

If you think you would have fun, then do it.

Brad:

I hear what you are saying. You seem to be treading softly. I say there's no reason not to meet up if that's what you both want.

Yeah, that's about right. New Brad is like Coke Zero to Old Brad's Jolt Cola.

What can it hurt? Thanks, guys.

I don't know, we're both relatively new lawyers and we usually talk about work. I really don't have a problem with that. I think we both like to know that the other's doing alright.

Several times a week is not keeping in touch or knowing that the other is doing alright. It's a pretty tight relationship.
