Jacket too big - is this beyond tailoring

Hi all,

I saw a second hand jacket and even though I knew it was too big, I couldn't help myself and bought it. There was no proper mirror as it was at a market and I took a chance that it might be okay.

Now I realise it's too big, everywhere. I took some pics. Can someone tell me if this is beyond tailoring? excuse the very messy room

Yes it is beyond tailoring. The primary reason is the shoulders. That is the single most expensive alteration, and is normally not worth the cost.

I'd wear it as is. I no longer like perfectly clean fits, the slouchy shoulders and chest look ideal and comfortable rather than stuffy.

I agree to some extent. I have an old Valentino jacket I got from father-in-law that is about 2 sizes too big. I wouldn't think of getting it altered and wear it at home.

For casual wear it's probably ok, though I would shorten the sleeves. That should help quite a bit in lessening the too big look.

True, I do sort of like the fit as well but I would feel a little self conscious wearing it out. Maybe if I get the sleeves done I will feel better about it
