The Fall 2011 catalog has dropped:

http://issuu.com/allenedmonds/docs/2011_falldigest

After my first quick digital flip-through,

Good things:
-The Walden beefroll penny loafer is now offered in burgundy shell cordovan. Only other I've seen is made by Carmina (PG has a pair).

Bad things:
-Still no Mora (custom only, $450). But they released a dressier version of the Lubbock, the Norwich, to supplement the other single monk, the Boston :bored:
-Independence collection is kinda underwhelming, although I really wasn't sure what I was expecting.
-Every new addition to the Rough collection is ugly as hell, coming from a guy who loved the first three from Spring '11.
-The Fifth Street has arrived! AND THEY ADDED A MEDALLION. I think it throws the boot off, would've been better with just a brogued captoe.

Man, I sound like I'm complaining a lot.

My thoughts on the new collection seem to echo yours. I was underwhelmed by the independence collection as the styling is very similar to most existing products. I get that it is designed to compete with Alden and many of the other English makers, but I think they missed the mark a bit.

I love the new Kenilworth shoe and the antiquing that they are finally adding to their shoes. I only wish that it was available in my width without a $50 up fee.

Also, the Fifth Street boots are pretty gnarly. I like the medallion for some reason...it reads more sartorial and less killer. Sartorial killer?

Big Time PSA

Nordstrom has AE Lombards are on sale. Normally $285 now only $139.

Does have rubber sole and not a leather one. But still a good looking shoe.

Link to Sale
Lombard is being discontinued, hence the steep discount Correction: when I spoke with the local Nordstrom they indicated it was being discontinued. However, it's in the new catalog, so it looks like it will remain in production.

great deal b/c of it's exclusive design for Nordy. I have to wait until Dec 26 for the next sale...

So the players at Nordies will be 199 again in December?

Those with players shoes, did you have any heel wear issues?

I'm thinking because of the stiff double sole, I'm getting some excessive heel rubber wear.

My Lombards arrived about an hour ago. I wore my Park Aves to the office today so I could compare the fit with the Lombards. I'm a perfect 9E in the Park Aves (5 last), but got the Lombards in a 9D based on (a) AE's last descriptions and (b) size availability on Endless.com.

Although it's too early to say anything definitive, it seems the 9D is a bit on the snug side. Still, I'm thinking a 9E may have been too loose in the heel. I'm sticking with these 9Ds. The ideal fit would probably be something between a D and an E for these shoes. Again, the break-in period is still young.

Anyone care to help me out with a sizing question?

I'm a 13E in the 5 last, with a bit of room length wise. Chances I could fit into a 13D in the 2 last? (The Lombard is on sale for a great deal...)

This is what I'm assuming, but I'll be able to confirm this for you tomorrow. I'm a 9E on the 5 last and ordered a 9D on the Lombard, which arrives tomorrow.

I have the AE New Orleans (# 2 last same as the Lombard) on a 10D, and they fit fine (a bit of room leght wise). I did try on 9.5D but were too narrow. I have just received my AE McAllister (# 5 last) on a size 9.5E. The McAllister on a 9.5E are actually a bit longer that the New Orleans on 10D (more room length wise). I remember trying on the Lombard at Nordstrom while they were on sale, a tried on a 9.5D but were too narrow, they felt just like a 9.5D on the New Orleans. Going up half a size solved the problem. Width wise, a 9.5E on the 5 last is probably just like a 10D on the 2 last (maybe even a bit narrower).

So if you are 13E on the 5 last, i would go for a 13.5D on the 2 last.

Interesting. I own a pair of Strands in 9D and a pair of Lombards in 9D, and while the Strand is roomier in the toe box and the Lombard more snug in the instep, I wouldn't go to a different size or width in either shoe. It feels like the Lombard is overall a more snug fit than the Strand, in the same size/width.

Just got my first pair of Allen Edmonds Strand in Walnut in the mail and have a couple questions for you AE pros. I noticed that the bottom of the right shoe is pink and the bottom of the left shoe is tan in color. Is this common? Also, there is an AE logo on the inner left side of my right shoe and nothing on the left shoe. I have a degree of OCD and it bothers me a bit. Just wondering if this is normal.

The logo appears on the inside of the right shoe typically.

The pair is brand new from Nordstroms. The difference in color is more noticeable in person than the picture.
