What color pants would you pair with them? During the day? Or in the evening for dinner?

How light, and what sort of grey, bluey or browny?

Wouldn't wear light grey for dinner except in high summer. In that circumstance, and if really light, then contrasting sumer trousers in pink, or sky or light green or whatever.

In less formal settings, indigo jeans.

It strikes me as very hard to pull of with dark wool trousers. You might manage with beigey neutrals, but you'd have to judge the shade well.

Perhaps one of the more Italian inspired posters could chip in. I think I recall a grey coat and brown trousers being done very well by Valentino or his business partner in a recentish BBC documentary, but can't find a pic.

I'd say my previous advice stands. The jacket is quite washed out, so a strongish colour in the trousers sho'nuff is right that a rich brown would work. This is what I was thinking of with the Italian reference.

chocolate brown suede shoes and a light blue shirt would probably look good.
