How to pack for NYC June gloom weather

Seeking advice from NYCers or those that frequently travel there this time of year. Travelling to NYC for vacay next week and extended forecasts show weather in the city that is similar to this week, scattered T-storms. Just figuring out what to pack. Agenda includes a couple of museums, Central Park, lots of eating, walking and shopping.

I was planning on some white pants/jeans, suede shoes (rubbered soled for all the walking). With threat of scattered rain, humidity should I nix the white and suede? Any other tips or general things to know about dealing with this sort of weather in the middle of summer?

Every one tells me the weather will be great in June. Turns out not really, and it's the same as it was the last time I went there in June like 6 years ago. Is this typical NYC?

This is the worst year. Every day it's been raining and I feel like I live in London now. I'd forget about white pants and suede. You'd have to be insane. The humidity is gross so don't wear anything that will stick to your skin. And when a cab splashes a puddle on you, you can be sure as **** that the water isn't going to be clear.

That bad? I was hoping you would say, sure it's been raining off and on, but only for an hour or so a day then it clears up. So it's also humid now as well? Hopefully the forecasts change a bit over the next few days.

I went to NYC on vacation a couple of years ago. First off have a blast, the city is unlike anything in the world, second, it gets very hot in the Summer, especially since I am assuming you will be doing quite a bit of walking.

Maybe a light jacket (water resistant a plus) for cooler morning/night temps (it's not quite middle of summer yet). And an umbrella.

NYC's a dirty town and if you spend time outdoors you'll get grimy (this includes white clothes).

With lots of concrete and rough spots, it's also hard on shoes (and feet). I think rubber-soled shoes are a good idea. An alternative to suede, for a stubbornly rainy day, will help.
