    What makes a good shampoo?

OK, so I have read this thread about quality shampoos several times. There are lots of recommendations, but what I really want to know is, what makes a good shampoo? Clearly, the smell is important, but that's not what I'm talking about. What makes a salon shampoo different from Pantene Pro or...

How to match frames to my face?

I ended up going to the optometrist and letting the 50-year old lady suggest frames for me and she did a super job. Much better than I would have been able to :-) She immediately knew whether protruding sides would be good for my face, the correct nose bridge width, the shape of the glasses...

What's up with APCs one-size inseam?

I posted this before in the APC thread, but I think it got lost in the shuffle. What's up with APCs one-size inseam? Am I missing something, or do they only have one size for inseam? A 28x36 is going to look ridiculous on me. Do people just cuff them, or do you alter them to reduce them to a...

    Denim Bar

So, how do we go about finding what they have available, prices, and ordering? Is there a link or something? I'm interested in buying a pair of APCs NS.

    Homemade Yogurt

Funny. I used to make yogurt at home (probably the same yogurt maker), and it wasn't particularly better nor cheaper than the organic yogurt at Trader Joes. So in the end, it was just an inconvenience and I gave up. Now I just buy large tubs of plain organic yogurt and mix them with whatever I...

A.P.C. The official thread for APC denim sizing and other questions.

I finally got around to trying some APC New Standards and... what's with only having one inseam length??? For high quality jeans, I was fully expecting to have different sizes. Sorry, but a 28x36 is simply ridiculous on me. How do other people deal with it? Do you cuff them, or do you tailor...

How to match frames to my face?

The recent discussion about choosing frames for glases had this nugget there: So, in general, what are the things to look for when matching frames to my face as far as shape and color? I'm afraid I'm totally clueless about that. I was planning on going to the optometrist to get a pair of...

Sandals are good and all but...

A grown mans feet shouldnt be visible in public unless he is swimming/at the beach. flipflops can rot in hell Not true as well in SoCal. Here flip flops and sandals are the general uniform during 90% of the year.

    Running shoes

It's a bit steep ($150-$200), but it'll last forever. Keep an eye out on eBay and you can find a pair for under $150. Last forever? Maybe if all you do is walk with them, but running shoes are supposed to be replaced every 300-500 miles because they lose most of their cushioning.

    Running shoes

Agreed with Sonick: Go to a running store. The most important thing is getting the right type of shoe. For $100 you should be able to get lots and lots of great running shoes. Asics are personal favorites of mine, but try a bunch of them.

    Shopping recommendations in Montreal?

I'm going to be in Montreal this coming week, and I was wondering if anybody had recommendations of where to go shopping for general streetwear (including shoes and a sports jacket). I'm already planning to go to U & I to try on a pair of APCs (and purchase it if it's not much more expensive...

So I need to figure out a new way to exercise

Can you bike to/from work? It's a really great way to go because: - The time you spend exercising doubles up as your commuting time - You save on gas costs - You don't pollute the environment - You get in great shape It takes some planning to get started: figuring out how you're going to carry...

    Messenger/shoulder bags

I highly recommend Timbuk2 bags. They're pretty much indistructible. I've had one for about 10 years of almost daily use on my bike through sun/rain/snow, and it looks like new. Besides, you can choose whatever color combo you want through their web site (http://www.timbuk2.com). And they're...

How to find a good hair stylist?

I've always gone to regular barber shops to get a plain haircut, but now I'm interested in sprucing things up a bit. In particular I'm looking for someone who can recommend a good hair style given my hair and preferences, as well as maintenance tips, etc. So, how do you go about finding a hair...

Recommendations for a very informal interview?

If you already knew the answer to your question, or at least made up your mind, why post it in the first place? Surely you wouldn't go out and buy new shoes for a job interview this informal? I knew that a suit was out of the question. I also knew that I didn't want to do shorts + tshirt +...

Recommendations for a very informal interview?

In America, at least, any job coach, employment researcher, or business communication teacher (that's me) would tell you to wear a suit. Trust me on that one. I know this industry. When somebody walks through the door with a suit on, everybody assumes he has no idea about what's expected. I...

Recommendations for a very informal interview?

I think it just depends on the environment. If it's a pretty casual job (i.e. entry level sales, or a job in a creative environment where noone dresses up at all, as is probably indicated by everyone wearing shorts/jeans) perhaps polo/khakis or tan wool trousers) may be a better choice than a...

Recommendations for a very informal interview?

I have a job interview coming up. Unlike a lot of companies, this is a super-informal place (shorts/jeans everywhere). So I can't show up with a full suit and tie (not like I own one). The typical rule of thumb is to dress up one notch from the expected dress code. So what do you recommend as a...

A.P.C. The official thread for APC denim sizing and other questions.

OK, with the raves in this forum, I'm very intrigued about the APC New Standards. Things is... I really want to try them on first. Anybody knows of any stores in/near San Diego that carry them? There were none listed in the APC web site. I'd prefer not to go to LA just for that. Otherwise, I'll...
