I have to attend a couple formal events in the next year, and it is more economical to purchase than to rent a tux. That being said, I do not want to spend an excessive amount, and would like to keep my budget to around $1,000 for the tux itself. I ran a search but did not find anything that really answered this question. Any help is much appreciated.

If you can handle a notch lapel, C21 has a RL Polo tux in 38S for $500. It also has a center vent, but that can be closed. I'll be posting pics and a review of my tux from Mr. Ned when it is done, but that is costing me under $1k.

If you can wait until the RL private sale, usually tux's go 40% off. If your a previous customer you have a high chance of getting a 'kicker card', which give you an additional 15% off the sale price. Find the right size, and then have it mailed to you from out of state and save the sales tax. That will put you well within your budget for a brand new one tailored to you.
