Tampons. This is basically just cotton stuffed into a tube, right? DIY.

Canadian merchandise. USA will invade them one day, just be patient.

Dignity. If you are a woman you don't need to pay for anything, if you know what I mean.

The pets one is actually quite good. There are always a variety of puppies and kittens being given away by someone, or at shelters or animal rescue places. Our rescue dog is loving, loyal and healthy. And she's just as good at lying on the couch as any other dog.

Buying a purebred for thousands is quite moronic unless you do shows or something. Then it's moronic for other reasons.

Coffee. The 75 cent cup from the local deli is better than the $4.95 **** they're pedaling at Starbucks.

Sometimes rescue dogs work out, and sometimes they don't. It's a gamble. If you're ok with that then go ahead. A well bred dog might just be the cheaper route a lot of the time though, especially if you're looking for a particular breed. Too many breeders just breed any two dogs that look the same together.

Given your love of Butter Dogs, I understand your point of view.

It is funny you chose Ibuprofen as your example. A former colleague (pharmacologist) explained the chemistry of it to me. Turns out generic brands are a lot cheaper because they have far less of the biologically active isomer of ibuprofen. The process to produce a higher yield of the biologically active isomer is more costly, so not used by the generics usually.

I'm not sure if this is still the case though, this was several years ago.

I'm curious if your former colleague pharmacologist friend worked for a brand-pharmaceutical manufacturer. I suspect that he did, because that's some bullshit right there.

Yeah but if you get a Briggs & Riley, they do free repairs for life.
