There is nothing at all wrong with those shoes: firstly, it's French calf leather. It is soft and light and has a texture; even the good bits. What's more, when you choose the artificial "Museum" finish, you choose a leather with a modified surface. Still a full thickness leather, but one that has been artificially smoothed. It will show small wrinkles on stressed/curved areas more than a normal full grain. It looks pretty, but if you're the kind of person who would never wear a corrected grain, it's worth bearing in mind that Museum is halfway there. So don't blame the maker for making what you want.*

*Blame them for sometimes making what they want, and their maddening sizing inconsistency instead!

x-post from the Toronto thread:

I just wanted to give a shout-out to Jokb who helped clean up my pair of suede Vass. After his post about borrowing shoes for the Toronto Gentleman's Expo, I offered to lend him my pair to showcase suede options. He gladly helped restore my shoes, which as you can tell by the photo, were quite beat up.

Thanks again!

good sport, these look fantastic. i honestly didnt even see the goyser until the second time. i think you did well keeping these. cool detail that i didnt notice the first time is the lack of pinking on the punch cap toe; i think i prefer it

I think the only reason I have not sold my less than perfect fitting boots is that I like to marvel at the Goyser stitching...

Thanks! It's really a good job, especially when I don't have the time to do it as thoroughly as he does. You can contact @jokb for more information, as he routinely restores and polishes shoes for a bunch of guys here.

Meh, can't really pull it off. It looks better with my unhemmed jeans.

You're welcome. The London model in black shell cordovan is sexy. Wear it in good health.
