Hey all, hard to follow up some of this fire. I feel like I worked hard for these haha. Lots of reps for sure. Mostly pops. It’s good just starting out.

Let’s start with a little workwear

Now some older suits but with yellow half off and all looking good I went ahead. Lots of three buttons. Possible separates maybe and I looked for mates. Twss

First the unvented haha

Now the double vented

These were both half off at around $3 each

Dirty and torn liner but hoping to be able to rehab a bit. At $10 I couldn’t resist.

And lastly this beast. No comps of this age or composition at first glance, but didn’t get it for that. Harris label looks like 50s to me. Aside from smelling like an old man from an older time, the tweed looks untouched. A real testament. Need to replace the replacement main buttons with something more suitable.

Well I was off by a 150 years it turns out.
It's a tankard by John Kirkup from 1755.

It's a dragon with a star in middle and 24 crosses.

I think it is not a dragon, but an (imperial?) eagle (aquila). Or on a second thought it may be still a dragon ... The star is probably a mullet (representing the rowel of a spur) which was used to identify the third son using his family's coat of arms. Intriguing. Curious what your expert will say.

In the field. Anyone know this? Google indicates a closed clothing store.

@tonylamerCJC @impuntura Any tips and info about restoring this Credenza? I kind of remember @impuntura mentioning gun stock oil at some point. There are a few areas that need some re gluing.

I was laughing with my brother as well that a friend with a pick up truck helped me carry it home around the corner but I think a part of the base got partially cracked. Beggars can’t be choosers.

Is it a half belt? There used to be a good market for no name vintage tweed shooting jackets, I’d probably pick it up if it’s cheap enough.

Yep, I immediately thought about that but alas not a half-belt:(

If old and vintagy enough there are some FB forums that would probably snap items like that up but it does seem pretty niche.

You have a couple of options, but I'm gonna skip straight to the 2nd. I know you don't want to spend $150 in materials and take it down to the bare veneer (it's not solid teak) with a chemical stripper. Then bleach it with oxalic acid to get an even colour. Then make veneer repairs. And on and on. Go to the hardware store and get carpenter's glue, 500-600 grit sandpaper, and some teak oil. Scuff sand the existing finish. There will be white marks and scratches to the finish. You can sand those areas of finish, but don't try to sand out scratches on the veneer. You'll go through it and expose fibreboard. Wipe off the dust with a piece of an old t-shirt. Then wipe on a THIN coating of teak oil with another piece of an old t-shirt. Let it dry overnight. Lightly scuff sand. Wipe on another thin layer. Then let that layer dry and enjoy. You can repeat a 3rd time if you want. You'll have to live with the toning on the piece because of the topper that's been removed. But unless you really want to get into refinishing, this is probably the best way to do it. If you have any questions, PM me. We can discuss it offline. Touch-up markers can fix any bare spots.

While I'm here, I've found a few more things:

I've taken a bunch of thrifted pieces to work. I'm really happy with the transformation from sterile government office to livable space. The Picasso exhibition poster is the latest addition:

I found these RS Associates night-tables.

This is a cool Tony Duquette chair:

And I painted another picture of middle-class ennui: a man yelling at his wife for buying a pair of shoes. 5 feet x 5 feet.
