We should make sure the events are at outdoor venues, to accommodate our egos and hot air.

I'd actually be more interested in a closed venue to see who suffocates first.

is this thing for real or is it just an inside joke?

Hey I was wondering that as well. I'm trying to visualise what a meeting of the igentry would be like and what kind of conversations there would be.

As someone who has attended meetups in San Francisco with local and visiting iGents for about 4 years I can tell you that visually it is a mix. It has included a wide range of styles all which add to the fun for anyone who enjoys clothing and different styles : LabelKing in his 70's retro chic attire, including a monocle and cane, bespoke Rubinacci on iammatt , head-to-toe Trad on some, with SW&D on others. Then there are those who have a mix of of styles of their own choosing including one guy who showed up a while ago in a vintage Nudie suit. Interestingly, most of the talk has very little to do with clothing. Sure there are the "Nice shoes, who makes those?" or "Where did you get those jeans?" But a lot of it is guys just talking about whatever comes up. There are some very interesting people who show up and just about any topic is fair game.

+1. At a recent SF in SF gathering, I spent the evening discussing economics, education policy, and politics. I was wearing a suit, though.

I think most of us get enough of it on here. I rarely talk about clothes in the flesh. I feel awkward when I do.

My SF meat ups have mostly been spent discussing banned members, FS threads, and epic threads. Am I doing it wrong?

I think what is enjoyable about Bay Area meet ups and why we have them regularly is that discussions can and do go in many different directions based upon who attends. Anyone can chat about about threads and posters on the forum anytime they want.
