I was told purchases at the show weren't eligible for VAT refunds for non-eu customers. Is that accurate, or did I lose out on 20% back?

Would have been a good showcase for Carmina. Or do they already stock in London?

The Wardrobe Wimbledon will be stocking Carmina later this summer.

That was a great event, by the way, even though I only arrived later in the evening just after 6. We were trying to listen in on the panel discussion but sadly we couldn't hear a thing and I'm awful at reading lips!

Thanks for the kind words! Happy you came, and enjoyed it. Regarding NYC, we'll see, talked about it but so much that needs to work out for it to happen.

Thanks! Yes, that was one of the problems we had, with the sound at the stage sessions. Couldn't turn the volume up too much since that caused distortion, the speakers weren't ideal. Sorry that you further back had problems hearing.

I was told purchases at the show weren't eligible for VAT refunds for non-eu customers. Is that accurate, or did I lose out on 20% back?

It varied between exhibitors, but know that many didn't deduct VAT, think it had something to do with the event not being in their home country.

We are very proud to announce the first World Championships in Shoemaking, organised by Shoegazing and The Shoe Snob, in collaboration with Kirby Allison’s Hanger Project. The final takes place during the London Super Trunk Show on April 7 2018. In the prize pool is £6,000 (€6,700 / $8,000), plus all podium placed shoes will be exhibited at the Isetan Men's department store in Tokyo, and at other stores in various locations around the world. One fully handmade black cap toe oxford with single leather sole is to be made, and the criteria that will be judged are the degree of difficulty and the execution of the making, but also the overall design/aesthetics. We hope that both large, well-established firms and lesser-known one man operations will participate. Read all about the World Championships in Shoemaking, and how to enter, here. And please spread the word!

Very keen to find out who joins

You mean who enters the shoemaking championships? Yeah, it's a good variety of makers, will be very interesting to see the final shoes.

New York version please ;-)

Yes we've had wishes for both that and Paris version. The main problem is to have the time, it takes a lot of work setting these up (I have the Stockholm version as well), and I have a regular full-time job and Justin runs his brand, so struggling with time. But we'll see in the future!
