I recently picked up two Drakes oxfords and I’m finding the shoulders to be uncomfortably narrow. They sit at least half inch higher up my shoulder on each side compared to Borrelli, JPress, or Brooks.
I wanted to like them — the hand on the fabric is soft and incredible and the collar is lovely. The body and sleeves were a nice cut —not too slim not too billowy. Unfortunately, the shoulders are cramped and uncomfortable and with a jacket off, I look like I’m wearing a much too slim shirt from 2010. I’m 6ft ~160 so not a large frame either. Don’t know how you all fit into these.
if there was something in the ~200 range with the hand and collar of drakes with wider shoulders I’d be all over it.
I keep meaning to stop by the local Uniqlo and check them out. I have an XL that's maybe 5 years old. I really like the fabric and the collar roll. But the sizing is odd. A trim body that fits nicely, sleeve length good, but the collar itself is gorilla-sized so it's a deal-killer for me. Sport shirt sizing, so downsizing to Large would make the body too small. If the sizing model has changed a bit, and the rest is similar to mine, I'd buy a dozen.Has anyone tried the latest Uniqlo OCBD shirts? It looks like to me from afar that they have slightly longer collar rolls now (longer as in longer than it's past iterations).
@Shirtmaven can you comment on that Japanese repro of Dan River oxford cloth you recently received? How does it hold up compared to other top of the line stuff?Look for true Gitman vintage shirts from the 70s to early aughts. Not "Gitman Vintage". Once the factory was sold to Indvidialized apparel group., the quality started to suffer. The actual Gitman Bros made an excellent shirt.
I have not see a kamakura shirt in years, but it was underpriced for the workmanship and fabric.
Drakes and PS are overpriced.
I believe shirts for O'Connell's are coming from New England Shirt. A decent shirt, but not the quality of Patterson, NJ Brooks or Gitman
I have not made a shirt for myself yet. I imagine it lasting along time.@Shirtmaven can you comment on that Japanese repro of Dan River oxford cloth you recently received? How does it hold up compared to other top of the line stuff?
I'm looking to commission 3 OCBDs (blue, white, stripe) in the next few months and was going to go with the PS oxford cloth but after seeing that Dan River stuff I'm considering coming to you...
Are Cavour UK based? (So as to NOT incur duty/customs)Cavour has some OCBDs from their Sartorial line at 50% off now. They are a tremendous value for the money
They are based in Norway, but those shirts are made in Italy and as far as I understand, you'll only have to pay a sales tax. Cavour handles that for you as far as I understand from their thread, but you can ask Kevin from svinland for clarification as I am in no way affiliatedAre Cavour UK based? I wouldn't call it well priced - that's a bespoke shirt pricing in StockholmI have a few made from Shirtonomy, MtM, and they hold up really well. They are very well-priced even when ordering Mother of Pearl buttons and their split yoke option.
They offer two Button Down option, one smaller one - classical, and the bigger one - with a roll similar to Anglo-Italian.
Shirtonomy states that their shirts are made in Portugal

Drake's easyday shirts come without a locker loop in the back and also lack the gusset. They are a little bit shorter in the body too. If I am not mistaken, the Easyday line was designed with "younger" customers in mind, who might want to wear their shirts untucked. Is anyone aware of what features distinguish Drakes' 'Easyday' OCBDs, from their 'regular' ones? They don't appear to make them anymore, and perhaps there's no difference, but i wouldn't mind knowing for sure, as it sounds a slightly derogatory label and hence perhaps they are budget versions...?
