Greetings all. Could you please give your views on the optimal blue Oxford shirt, at a reasonable price? i have oscillated between Gitman and Polo Ralph Lauren for years, and neither a quite right. The Gitman is close, but i find they quickly become scruffy after a few washes, the box plate is really difficult to iron flat, and (this one is a bit geeky) there's a large gap between the stitching and the edge of the seam (on the cuffs/sleeves, collar and box plate).... whereas the Lauren's collar never seems to to sit open quite right, and the absence of a breast pocket isn't great.
Simon Crompton's Permanent Style example looks good (and in some good alternative colours too), although it is reassuringly expensive.
How about William Crabtree?
Brooks Brother's i guess are perhaps the original (or close to) but they're very difficult to locate in the UK.
I would appreciate member's thoughts.

My favorite Oxford is the Hilditch and Key. I do not wear button down
collars, but H &K oxford in the cutaway model is first rate. If yuou want
real Ivy League button downs, the kind I wore in my youth, check out
Mercer. Their shirts are very full but authentic.

Mercer & Sons is my go to for Oxford cloth button downs and their other fabrics are outstanding, too. Made to order in USA. Old school fit. Personal service. Promotional pricing on your first shirt. David or Serena Mercer will answer the phone. Check out Mercer and tell them I sent you.

If you want a BB, check eBay - there are tons floating around. I agree with @GaiusM that Kamakura are a great balance of price and quality. The fabric is pre-washed and nice and soft when you get them. Mercer is great too. David will answer on the second ring most times! Their lead times are a bit long, but you get a beautiful custom shirt. They’ll work with you a bit on sizing, too. J. Press and O’Connell’s are both running sales right now if you want to check those out, as well. These are essentially all the classic ivy options.

I'm pretty happy with Spier & Mackay's Ivy Oxfords. Nice collar length and roll.

Mercer is probably the best, but by the time you do all the body adjustments, it can get rather pricey.

Recently, I've been enjoying J. Press a lot. They switched to unlined collars, they ship right away, and they're not terribly espensive (they're often 15% off). The body works better for me than Mercer even if the collar isn't quite as good.
