Here's one fitting pix from one of the top Japanese shoemaker; formerly at Cleverley.
Wow - I really find this fit pic and others posted to be fascinating. When in the be-spoke process does this typically occur? Is the fitter using a test shoe? I was measured by Mr. Glasgow in NYC a few months back - they are building a balmoral that will accommodate my orthotic and I will have my next fitting appointment sometime in March/April. Given how tough I am to fit, I might benefit greatly from this process. Is this something I can request beforehand? Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. Thanks... Mike147

Not all bespoke shoemakers do a trial shoes for fitting purposes.

JLP do, some Japanese makers do. But both JL St James and G&G do not. It's all about their house workflow.

Not sure about Cleverley, better to ask their opinion.

p.s., tough to fit is usually a RTW phenomenon; and cap toe is harder to fit than plaintoe/wingtip/etc due to the toe cap stitch/stiffening.

Lovely, The welt stitching is great too.

By my estimation it should take you about 20 years to wear these into the ground. If you work hard at it.
