Never tried the trousers like that but might be too delicate and might bag a lot. Trousers need a bit of heaviness for it to drape nicely.Never had a wool/cashmere pants. How is that material? Any downsides? Any experience with these trousers?
I have 360gm VBC flannel and they are nice. They also drape well! My corduroy trousers do not drape at all!Never tried the trousers like that but might be too delicate and might bag a lot. Trousers need a bit of heaviness for it to drape nicely.
Don't you find it tiring to constantly nag and jab a vendor in their affiliate thread given, among other reasons, they do not care to engage with you (or anyone to be fair) but also, because you appear to be a current customer?I have 360gm VBC flannel and they are nice. These have a bit of cashmere so should wear warmer. The weight is not disclosed 500 pages already on that topic ( it’s top secret ) but should be around the mid 300 gms I assume .
Do it!
And then return it if you don’t like them!
Spier has excellent return policy!!
If only one knew the weightNever had a wool/cashmere pants. How is that material? Any downsides? Any experience with these trousers?
I'm learning this the hard way, wore a pair of hopsack trousers for the first time yesterday and the drape is horrendous, the crease is practically nonexistent from the knee down.Never tried the trousers like that but might be too delicate and might bag a lot. High twist, any kind of gabardine, covert cloth, cavalry twill, etc. hopsack is a jacketing fabric. Too soft and spongy to really hold any crease or shapeI'm learning this the hard way, wore a pair of hopsack trousers for the first time yesterday and the drape is horrendous, the crease is practically nonexistent from the knee down.
As someone that's new to classical menswear, what type of fabric maintains a nice crease/ pleat on trousers?
I live in a subtropical region with high humidity, I hoped a couple of hopsack trousers would work out for my situation, I was wrong lol. One of many more lessons I'm sure I'll be learning.High twist, any kind of gabardine, covert cloth, cavalry twill, etc. hopsack is a jacketing fabric. I would probably avoid linen. Honestly, high twist is the best. Maybe a gabardine of some sort in like 9-10 ozI live in a subtropical region with high humidity, I hoped a couple of hopsack trousers would work out for my situation, I was wrong lol. One of many more lessons I'm sure I'll be learning.
Besides High Twist, what other fabric I could wear in hot and humid climate? I'm not sure if linen maintains a nice crease, but I wouldn't consider it due to propensity to wrinkle so much.
How about cotton trousers?I would probably avoid linen. Honestly, high twist is the best. Maybe a gabardine of some sort in like 9-10 oz
Yeah, I’m not knocking linen at all I absolutely love linen, wear it all summer. Definitely not for someone who wants a sharp crease thoughTo each their own, but linen is my best friend during the summer. I've done a fair bit of traveling in tropical climes and it's always been the most worn fabric among classy gentlemen. High twist is great if you need to hold a crease but I just embrace the wrinkles. YMMV
edit: Linen/cotton blends behave better than pure linen for trousers imo
Depending on weight, cotton trousers may be good for your climate, but they're also not as smart as wool or linen trousers. How about cotton trousers?
I would go for linen before I would go for cotton. Even worse drape, especially in the lighter weights. How about cotton trousers?
Interesting that you say that, I got a pair of High Rise Cotton trousers from SM recently and while I haven't worn them yet they seem to drape really nicely (they are heavier than the hopsack) and it looks like they will maintain the crease.I would go for linen before I would go for cotton. Even worse drape, especially in the lighter weights.
