do kneebags ever "go away". I'm working in a pair of nudies and they have stretched to the point to where they are pretty comfortable everywhere, but it leaves noticable kneebags. The jeans are not tight below the knee, so they probably won't stretch to "even things out". How will they go away? After a wash?

"Kneebags" are inevitable in any slim-fitting denim unless you keep your legs locked straight all the time. They'll shrink away a bit after a wash but will quickly stretch back again, like the rest of the jeans.

I am new to snow. I grew up in OKC and just recently moved north to Omaha. My boots keep getting road and sidewalk salt from all the slush and snow on them. I've tried cleaning it with a dry cloth, and also with a damp cloth saddle soap. The top layer of the salty stuff comes off, but there is remaining residue or my boots have been stained. How can I clean them better, or if they are stained how can I remove the stain ?

The boots really aren't anything special ( i got them at a thrift store) but if I can, I'd like to keep them as nice as possible as long as is possible.

Hi guys,

I just received a pair of jeans that I bought online. They have pant legs that are too baggy (I think it's about 17", I'm only about 5'7), is it possible for a tailor to properly slim the pant legs for me?

Salt and snow will destroy any pair of leather boots in the long run, but I've had good results wiping the boots off with a diluted white vinegar solution. For a pair of beater winter boots, I'm sure that would be fine. You can also buy leather cleaning products made specifically for removing salt stains. Don't let the salt stay on your boots too long though, because it will permanently damage the leather.

A tailor can slim down/taper a pair of jeans but I would recommend returning the jeans you bought and buying a slimmer pair. The end result will be better and it will cost less.

Heel taps, and they're cheap. You can also put them on under the toe area to prevent premature wear in that area as well.

They'd work for boots too right? If they're lift toe boots, would a cobbler still put them on the toe, or at the balls of my feet where sole hits?

You'd want to put them under the tip of the toe, and/or on ends of the heels only. Putting them elsewhere is going to make your feet feel awkward.

That's what i figured, i'm definitely going to look into that next week as i'm getting some wear in the outside corner of the heel where those taps are. Thanks, robin
