Hey folks! I recently turned 50, and one of life's sad casualties is that my beloved Isaia tuxedo which has served me for the last 15 years or so simply no longer fits very well and thus I am in need of a replacement. While I am perfectly happy to pick something up off the rack, I am leaning toward going with something MTM for both achieving the best possible fit, and for some degree of minor customization. I have read through many threads on the topic, but was hoping to solicit some updated perspective on some of the various places in NYC to get a MTM piece done. While I do not want to waste money unnecessarily on an item that may at best be worn once a year, price is not my primary issue. Rather, I am trying to source some ideas on places that might represent the most intelligent balance of quality vs. cost. I am downtown, so close to a wide range of custom shops... I have had some Suit Supply suits over the years, and generally did not feel like they were very well made.

So, please shoot me any thoughts or recommendations. I am open to revisiting the Suit Supply/Indochino tier, looking at an Alton Lane or equivalent, or moving to smaller operations like Lord Willy's, Miller's Oath, Duncan Quinn, The Armory, etc. I can also be talked into simply getting something off the rack if people think customization on something worn infrequently is a waste of time.

Thanks in advance!

The Armoury has an OTR peak lapel tuxedo by Ring Jacket if that's what you're looking for. They also offer MTM through RJ or Orazio Luciano. Personally, I have seen the MTM tuxedos from Orazio and are very impressed. From the link, I like Jan's tux the best.

Comparing Isaia to Suitsupply/Indochino/Alton Lane? Come on, really? You can't compare. Not even close in terms of quality. The Armoury launched a MTM milanese style line, which might interest you. Its around the same price point as Isaia, If I recall correctly. B&Tailor offers a year round MTM, I believe No Man walks alone has a mtm option. Same with Steed.

Also consider Cad & The Dandy, NYC.
