So, I'm trying an experiment with my next auctions. Instead of my standard mannequin shots for gallery, which sometimes in a larger size or odd fit or fabric don't look so appealing, Im trying the fabric closeup for the gallery. Anyone have any opinions either way?

I think that looks quite good

Those would be a great addition to the regular shots, they give a great impression of what the total pattern would look like.

Well, they are already there in the auction pics but what do you think of it as a gallery? Instead of the mannequin pics?

My thought is that the mannequin shot is supposed to make you want to look like what you see. If the jacket is too odd/big/small for the mannequin, why put up something you wouldn't want to emulate?

I think that they should work. Sometimes I click in the mannequin pic, when it open it might not be a fabric I like. So having a close-up of the fabric could work better. But then you would not know if it's a 3 or 2 button jacket or a DB.

Did I just prove me wrong or right?

I was thinking the same thing regarding number of buttons/ double vs. Single breasted

The detail shots are great in addition to the mannequin shots, but not instead-of as a primary shot. Only knowledgeable customers will look at that and make a good judgement about what it really is ("Wow, nice POW, and unfinished sleeves!") I think noobs* will scroll past it thinking it was a roll of cloth with some buttons laid out on it for effect. There just isn't enough context for them to "get" what it is you're selling without reading the details.

(*I say that fondly, I too was once one and still am in many areas)

@SpooPoker is it possible to do a transition from mannequin shot, to close-up texture shot? That way you address all the relevant details quickly.

I have seen other sites do this as you hover your mouse over an item pic, or even on the first click before sending you to the individual product page.
