I've found that 501s feel baggier than they look. I'm surprised when I look in the mirror to see that they don't look as baggy in the reflection as they do when I look down at them. But also, I'm not sure a slim fit is what 501s are about.

Nice. I'm wearing mine for a few days before the first soak.

Wondered about that. I just dig the nonsoaked feel/look. OK, so I'll do a soak today or tomorrow. For last year's pair, I did an on-body soak in the bathtub and wore them unitl they dried. Is that best, or should I just soak them?

^^^ Have no fear. After allowing them to hang dry post-soak, mine were so stiff that they stood up unassisted.

Soaking now in sink of hottest tap water.

Yr fit looks awesome, fiddy.

My pre-soak measurements (tagged size 35 x 36; my usual trousers/jean size is tagged 34x34)

Waist: 18
Front rise: 13
Back rise: 16
Thigh: 11
Knee: 10
Hem: 8.5
Inseam: 36.25

EDIT: 45-plus minutes soaked. Now drip-drying over the tub. Wow, that sink water was ink black! Now, lot of dark blue spots in the tub. Jeans already look a lot smaller.

My post-soak measurements

Waist: 17
Front rise: 12.5
Back rise: 14
Thigh: 10
Knee: 9.5
Hem: 8
Inseam: 33

I'm blown away. These shrunk exactly as the tag describes. They fit perfectly. Even a little loosening in the waist wouldn't hurt, but they also feel and look good snug. Inseam is perfect, w/ just enough stacking, and wouldn't look bad either if there was another 1/2 to 1 inch shrinkage.

Now for the wear. Goal is get 120 days of wear in before another soak.

Also experimenting with a Made in Mexico pair of 36 x 36.

Presoak numbers:

W: 19
FR: 13.5
BR: 16
T: 10.5
K: 9.5
Hem: 9
Inseam: 36

Interesting that the thigh and knee measurements are actually a little less than the 35 x 36.
