I feel like I get a lot more use out of the beans with the finer grind. The stuff I made with the coarser grind tasted fine but too weak when diluted. Also, I made my last batch with french roast beans and thought it was the best batch yet.
I find that less fresh beans take better to finer grinds. Makes sense when you think about the surface area and such

No french press is more medium coarse. Why are you set on a fine grind? The grind size just depends on the brew time.

Can't view the video because of the background music (by the EMI group). Blocked in Germany (cause YouTube doesn't pay licensing fees to the GEMA). Still, do you have a bottomless portafilter? It's difficult to see much with a regular portafilter.

No but if there's one thing I invest a bit more cash in it will definitely be that. I know everyone says grinder, grinder, grinder, but I'd like to give the machine its fair play prior to making any other serious buys.

Are you swirling to show crema/head or for some other purpose (like aerating wine)? Try reshooting first half and using right arm/hand

Just to show that there's some glossiness to the crema and that it's not rapidly dissipating. Not sure what you mean by right arm/hand - you mean place the camera on the right of the machine instead of the left?
