Except everyone doesn't have to drink wine, look at art, and play with toys. Clothing on the other hand is something that everyone wears.

I'm no clothing expert but the opinion of some SFers > her opinion. Some of these guys are clothing nerds. I'd listen to an expert over a bimbo.

All I'm saying is, you cannot tell people what they can and can't do, get over yourself.

"Kashi Kicks has an impressive selection for both Men and Women. The latter would be happy to know that purses are available as well. Calling Kashi Kicks as "cool" is not enough. It is beyond cool. The art that goes with creating each pair which transcends on the sneakers is perfection. Kashi Kicks is not just about shoes, it's about your lifestyle. Isn't that what fashion is all about? Showing who you are. Like Madonna said, "express yourself"

You obviously haven't spent enough time here. Baseless subjectivity is a defining feature of SF.

More importantly, though, the aforementioned blogger commits heinous factual errors for which she has rightly been criticized. Curbing the overabundance of false information on the internet is a crusade everyone should be a part of.

It's some people's opinion that certain races are better and should be treated different than others. You ever meet an old racist? White/black/asian/hispanic, there's no way in hell you're changing some people's minds. Sure, that's their opinion and is just as valid as your opinion that all races are equal, but just because it's their opinion doesn't mean it can't be good or bad. That's just an excuse people with no taste use.

Some people think thomas kinkade is the pinnacle of art. Is it their opinion? Yes, but they still have awful taste

Lil Wayne is awesome, as are Ravel, Chopin, Debussy, and Prokofiev.

The enjoyment of classical music and hip-hop are not mutually exclusive.

I don't buy that. They teach you in grade school that everyone is entitled to an opinion. However, that does imply that all opinions are equally valid. There is such a thing as a more qualified opinion.

+1.

To add on to Chrono's point: I think that the easiest way to compare the relative worth of opinions is by comparing the respective opinion-holders' knowledge of the opposing opinion. Thus, a given opinion's value can differ, based on circumstances.

For instance, let's say one person listens to John Cage, while the other listens to Frank Sinatra.
Situation A:
John Cage fan likes John Cage because he understands the existential value of silence, but understands & acknowledges the fact that Sinatra was a good singer.
Sinatra fan says that four minutes of silent 'music' is bullshit and Sinatra is 'a classic.'
The John Cage fan's opinion has more validity.

Situation B:
John Cage fan says silent music is "deck," while Sinatra is a "fogey-ass guido."
Sinatra fan says Sinatra's music represented his generation, classic Americana, etc. while John Cage didn't really understand existentialism and was just really pretentious.
Sinatra fan's opinion has more validity.

So, to put things back in context, if Ms. Sheknowsbest addressed what she perceived to be problems in "SF-approved" brands and advocated Jos. A Bank and True Religion to show solidarity with struggling Americans in a time of financial crisis and as an ironic sartorial social commentary, respectively, her opinion would carry more weight.

More like "solidarity with struggling Americans in a time when the media keeps hammering the idea of an incipient financial crisis into their heads, greatly exacerbating the situation."

Also, how would pimping $300 TRs express solidarity with impoverished Americans? Maybe aesthetically impoverished Americans.

Not sure I buy your "logic" and besides I think you are trying to rationalize one opinion over another's. Maybe not, but it seems that way.

^I'm not saying that my opinion is logically valid; I just used examples to clarify what I was saying.

Regarding TR's, I said respectively. Thus, "show solidarity with struggling Americans in a time of financial crisis" refers to Jos. A Bank, while "as an ironic sartorial social commentary" refers to TR's.
