Got it today. Really nice board. No cracks, very smooth surface, except for the "mill grooves" (?), so I sanded those:

No matter how dense and smooth the board looks, it's thirsty. This pic was taken just after layer three or four, and you can see it already soaked up the oil:

Yes, with some old knifes from my mother. I didn't use any clamp, watched two youtube videos and just went at it without thinking too much. Positive: The knifes are sharper than ever. Negative: I didn't always keep the angle, so the bevel isn't that even. For the paring knife, some parts of the knife are discoloured because I think I almost layed it flat for one stroke. So yeah, far from perfect, but very pleased with the cutting abilities. I'll have to be more careful with more precious knifes.
