1. I am all for advocating that people be themselves. Be yourself and be happy. However, when being yourself, vis-a-vis clothing choices, leads you to look bad in the eyes of a lot of other people, don't get mad when those other people tell you that they think you look bad. You can still be happy about how you look, that is your right, but you also have to be ok with people telling you that they think you look turrble. Such is the dichotomy. 2. Without offering any explanation, these are some fits I quite enjoyed looking at since my last post. I am thinking this may be my new way of contributing, if that can be considered, in fact, a contribution.
Happy Friday everyone. Hope you all have a great weekend!

I like the color and texture of that jacket very much. The boots, not so much. But then, I'm not a boot guy. I visited Château de Chilean on a similarly gloomy day, except in July. A fascinating, cold, and gloomy place! I wonder what it's like when the sun is shining?
It's amazing. You should go in autumn when the vineyards are orange-red and the lake plays with the light and appears this electric blue blending into the mountains and contrasting with the orange, and lunch or dine somewhere in the vineyards around Vevey, or further up towards Lausanne for that feeling of infinity from the lake bending around the mountain. The castle then just looks like another fairly large old family residence, almost welcoming (I think its positioning is oppressive though, with the sharp bank "pushing" you into the water against the walls and the high mountains blocking off the horizon).

Never seen one worn with a repp striped tie before. It's kind of a cool incoherence.

British posters will, of course, remember Captain Stephen Peacock from the BBC One comedy show, Are You Being Served?. He was played by Frank Thornton. Capt. Peacock was rarely seen out of a stroller and always with a striped (I assume military) tie:

Oh yeah. I forgot about that one. We used to have reruns of that show on TV for years. In fact, I think it's still airing here.

Today, in New York, it is, as they proverbially, colder than the left ventricle of a disaffected sex worker (or, as they say in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, "coldah than a hawse haht").

To that end, I've donned my warmest suit and overcoat.

Suit - BB MTM
Shirt - Tyrwhitt
Tie - Charvet
PS - no name brand
Cufflinks - BB
Vintage watch chain
Shoes - Magnanni for Bergdorf Goodman
Overcoat - BB
Scarf - New & Lingwood
Hat - Selentino via JJ Hat Center
