What could be more dramatic than Lincoln's Ad-Lib Club Back-to-the-Roots sessions?
Rare/underplayed sounds of the 1950s and 60s adopted by the original soul/mod scene that gave birth to the first UK all-nighters. R&B, Soul, Doowop, Jamaican R&B, Ska all played out in an 1823 stone-walled, windowless cellar-bar underneath Lord Beaumont’s Manor House in the wonderful city of Lincoln. A warren of rooms just made for the Ad-Lib Club’s music policy!
Living in Essex I don’t get there as often as I would like, but took these pics on my last visit. Of course, it’s important to dress as one would have done back in the day…
