so i kinda want a nice designer bag because i like the designs, but i don't really wanna plop down over 1k for one... do you think its fine to just get a fake one?

anyone have experience with the quality of fake bags? i mean, a LV bag has to be marked up at least 1000% from materials/handwork cost...

First of all, wrong. Their cost is substantially more than that. Second of all, why would you buy an LV bag? Thirdly, I carry some nice stuff around sometimes. I'd like a bag well made enough to be dependable. I'm not saying I'd drop 1k+ on a messenger, but I'd definitely spend more than I would on a pair of jeans.

There are so many great options for unique, amazing bags at ~$200ish (or less), why not by one of those instead?

Care about the style, not the brand. I say go for it.

No one suffers these warnings when people ask about designer furniture reproductions.

Only a cheap tin-horn would purchase counterfeit merchandise.

I agree with the others. YES, there is a difference.

If you can't or don't want to pay for a brand, as others also mentioned, there are MANY excellent bag companies out there that make great stuff for a good price. You don't HAVE to buy LV, Prada, etc. to get good quality... in many cases, the quality of these items is NOT in line with their retail.

Do some searches around the forum for the various non-brand brands that we like.

If you are dead set on a major brand, don't buy a fake; there is a difference and while they are made to resemble the real thing, they won't hold up like it. As well, many of the mid-tier brands (especially Gucci, Prada, Dior etc.) have really cut corners in the past few years, so there really is no guarantee that buying the real thing now will give you a bag you can use for years.

If you buy a fake you'll never be satisfied. Save your money and put it towards something fabulous, and real.
