Yup...I have a 6:1 ratio of Dover to Ecton so hard for me to argue that.

Ecton also has a single leather sole and no "extra leather" layers around the heel.

Interesting - I thought this pair that I picked up last year were Dover boots but they seem to be some kind of Dover/Ecton hybrid based on the above posts: three eyelets, double-soled, and the extra leather along the rear quarters:

Nah, those look more like Dovers. Look at the heel area and compare to the Ecton in my link above. Also, that looks like a double leather sole, right?

Maybe, but then again three eyelets are standard on most chukka style boots. My vote is for Dover.

It's a variation on the Halifax (Dover boot) which has been a staple in the EG catalogue for yonks.

Standard configuration of the Halifax is four pairs of eyelets. The RLPL one has three so the boot opens a bit wider in the lower section to show more tongue. Like many of the RLPL designs, just a slight variation of the original design.
