^ Just got a card for 40%. The back says something like "applies only to select shoe styles" or some such totally vague thing. Thing is, even at 40% off, the deal is not THAT great, though it includes trees. I've scoured the BB site and it is hard to think of anything I absolutely must have even at 40% off. Though I am sure I will find something.

Assuming it could be used on EGs, $789 for Inverness or Asquith, including trees, seems like a pretty good deal to me. Shoes only, if we remove 125 for trees, would be $664.

True. If I could remove the trees I'd be happy. Factor in tax, though. Around $840-$850. Still not bad with trees, but there are models I prefer that I could get (w/o trees) for about $100 more. So I def could have worded better -- it's pretty good, I'm just not compelled by the price as I do not love their offerings.

Just heard from BB regarding the 40% off card.

"The items excluded are Cordovan shoes, Harry of London, Edward Green Shoes, and Red Wing. Made to measure and special order are also excluded."

I'd build a relationship w them if they weren't total d$cks each time.

This. Tried for years and even when I had a good relationship with one guy, he could only do so much on his own. Mostly the store doesn't stock my size and they wouldn't honor the Brooks card rewards $ on the website. When I mentioned the lack of sizes the Store Mgr was indifferent - can't carry everything he sez. ahzholes So, I cancelled the card and buy the odd sock on sale.

Guys, I'm thinking about getting a pair of brown EGs that would go with dark jeans or chinos, ideally a pair that's a bit nondescript and not-flashy. For example, I'd want to avoid any red or purple color in the shoe.

Any thoughts on what colors or shoes would work well? I was thinking either dark oak or bronze for a color, and maybe the Malvern or Inverness? The Westbourne (a derby) also looks like it could work.

Btw, I'd be getting these from Leffot most likely (I'm in NYC).

Asquith or Chelsea
