Does anyone actually wear boat shoes on a boat? The amount people I see here wearing them, but have never been on a boat is cringe worthy.

I just got a pair of the Rancourt camp moc and I love them. Great quality.
Did you go with one in Horween CXL?

Does anyone have any experience with these in the Bison leather? I have noticed these as well.

Have never owned anything in Bison before.

I might end up doing a boat shoe from Quoddy and then either a camp moc or ranger moc from Rancourt, either in Bison or CXL. All kind of new to me, so will post some reviews once I get them for others.

Then try to stop spending money on menswear and save for 3 weeks in Greece, which I am slowly finding out is not cheap...

1 out of 10 on the troll attempt

No I’m serious. Why would I troll? I just don’t like it, don’t wear boat shoes if you don’t sail. That’s just like, my opinion man.

by your theory then 99% of consumer goods should not be purchased at all.

Does every pair of Air Jordans get used by an NBA player? Do Rolex Submariners only get used by deep sea divers?

I think this is my goal in about 10 years, ha. Sadly, they are about $2,000 CDN, so not in the cards at the moment. In theory, we have snow from about November to March, so I would get a lot of use out of them, but then again, if I spent that much, not sure I have the correct mindset to wear them in snow anyways...

Is there a more budget friendly option that you like? Something higher than Thursday boots but less than EG?
Yes, Meermin makes a good boot under $300US and sometimes a little cheaper on their ebay page.

I didn't wear boat shoes until I bought my boat because I just never thought to do so. That said, I wear them on shore extensively now.
Skateboard shoes (Vans or w/e) have flat soles that have some weight to them, which I assume help one balance on the board. I see boat shoes similarly: flat soles to minimize the risk of chucking oneself overboard in rough seas, canvas construction to dry quicker.
Fwiw, my boat shoes are cheapo Kenneth Coles, but they're comfy. I've also not pitched over my bow yet, so afaik they work.

Would you gentlemen say that brown would be my safest bet for a moc or boat shoe? I don't really have the budget to buy multiple pairs, and I figure brown should be the most versatile? Darker brown likely shows dirt less, although I treat my shoes very well, so that may be a moot point.
