I blame Sex and the City and the droves of boring women who want to be 'one of the girls' or some ****. Champagne/sparkling white wine cocktails on the other hand are pretty girly.

How long would an open bottle of Vya stay fresh in a fridge? I imagine about a week or less, which has caused me to avoid it - I don't want to throw away 3/4 of the bottle. Wretched M&R comes in much more reasonably sized bottles.

I have heard that vermouth is good for a month in the fridge after opening. Look into Dolin, which comes in small bottles as well.

So, temp and air, are the two main factors of it going bad....

fridge solves one....
vacuum tops solves the other...

I'd say you can get away with 2 months given those things....more-so maybe if you keep transferring to a smaller bottle.

It's a fortified wine, but it's not milk, so don't think TOO much about it.

Exactly. I use one of those wine pump toppers to get a light vacuum and it seems to last about three months. You can certainly start to tell the difference in taste and colour after that.

I usually have mine for a month. I don't do anything special...just keep it in a fridge. Vya sweet is SO worth it. In my Manhattans, I'd rather use a terrible whiskey with Vya sweet than a great whiskey with m&r. Rittenhouse 100 costs ~$12, Vya sweet is ~$25.

Me hopes you're not saying Rittenhouse BIB is terrible!

Where in the world is Rittenhouse only $12? It's twice that here. That's incredible. (Also, you guys have talked me into trying Vya. I usually don't keep wine in the fridge for more than a week, with a stopper, and thought a similar time frame would apply to a good vermouth.)

My wife once tried to put the vermouth in the freezer.

Rittenhouse is about 12-15$ here in NJ/NYC, however finding it, seems to be the hardest part.

'Baby Sazerac' or the regular Sazerac is similiar as far as sourcing, but is a bit more $, at 25ish.

My wife has taken a liking to Old Overholt, and now makes her Sazerac cocktails with Old Overhold and Hennessy or another VSOP.

ehh, maybe I was wrong. $15-20 is probably more accurate. But my point still stands. As someone here once told me, vermouth lasts longer because it is fortified.
