Let’s talk casual lasts. I currently own stuff on Oscar, Detroit, and Llubi. Are there any *more* casual and/or chunkier lasts? I’ve got an idea for an MTO boot but it’s definitely not what I’d normally think of as Carmina’s “style.”

I'd agree with those (though I haven't tried Llubi in person) and also throw in Soller. While Soller has a bit more taper towards the toe than Oscar and Llubi, it is still pretty hefty especially when paired with a storm welt. What kind of style are you going for?

I think you’ve got it covered, Llubi is the most casual looking to me.

Chunky boot. I’ve got an idea for a jumper floating around in my head. Carmina’s the only MTO company I can think of with the exotics available.

I was in downtown San Francisco today on Geary, between Grant and Kearny when, much to my surprise, I saw a storefront with the Carmina logo.

There were some people inside so I attempted to open the door and found it to be locked. Soon one of the staff came over and opened the door to let us in.

The shelves were stocked but there was some minor tweaking going on in the interior. The lady I spoke to, when asked, mentioned that they'd just opened today. I also asked if it was a soft opening as I hadn't heard any info previously to which she replied "yes, soft opening".

I asked if they were having any events or trunk shows and she replied that she'd take my name and number and let me know when anything comes up.

It's admirable that they're having a go with a retail shop in SF at this point in time.

I think I did see it hinted about a new store but then never did see it followed through with an answer!

So here's a question for the group. Lasts, again.
Llubi, Detroit EEE, or other?
I have a detroit lasted shoe from 2021 that fits well but requires thin socks. Has the last changed since then? I seem to recall some conversation about it.

Llubi fits me decently but I'd still like a little more room and width. I've emailed to ask if llubi has a wide option.

Any other suggestions? I don't want to go up in length because I feel like that's going to mess up my heel to ball measurement/placement.

Just got the email from them today announcing the official opening, and I'm happy to see that Isaiah Holt is the manager. He was the first face I met at the 45th Street store like 6 or 7 years ago and has always been really helpful with recommendations and styling advice, especially on days when I wandered in there not knowing exactly what I wanted. Carmina leadership seems to have pretty good business sense, so here's hoping this decision works out well for them and for us Bay Area folks who don't really have a ton of options for this sort of thing.
