So I placed an order on 9/29. According to tracking info I just got, shoes shipped 10/3 and were delivered today via DHL. 40EUR doesn't seem so bad for overnight shipping.

ok so i am confused, you bought a brand new carmina shell cordovan boot and immediately re-soled it? if so why would you do this? i am not trying to be rude, honestly i dont understand. Unless this is a re-sole after lots of wear

No worries, I actually asked myself the same question. I really wanted a more casual boot than what was available and I figured that by buying direct from Carmina and having the boots resoled I could create my own MTO boot for about the same as Epaulet charges for their group MTO's.

Through their website? Did it deduct the VAT? 40 euros for shipping sounds about right. Paid 50 GBP for G&G from UK!!!

Yup. Through the website and they deducted VAT. Strained to find a second pair to add, but nothing in my size that I could pull the trigger on. Second pair only 10 EUR extra on shipping.

idk man i have that boot in black and its a bit pricey and the re-soling adds to the cost so i would not have done that but enjoy

as far as price they increased like crazy

i asked about the Model 80092 in Burghundy Cordovan and price was - 483€ (this was Feb 2012), yesterday they came back with a quote of 564e., pricing has gone way up they are getting into the GG/EG areas sadly and this is without shipping

That's a bit of an exaggeration. GG increase prices once, sometimes twice a year, EG just raised their prices in September (will kick in Jan 1). A GG MTO boot in Cordovan would be something like €1500. GG increased their MTO surcharge a few months back from ca €150 to €200. It's just a simple fact that MTO is a big hassle at the factories and they're all realizing they need to increase their MTO surcharges.. This is of course bad news for both us retailers and consumers, but you have to look at it from the makers point of view as well.

It's been quite a while since Carmina increased their prices, so I guess we should have seen it coming. In my opinion Carmina is still very good value for money.
