Is this the Brown Burnished Calf?

Looking at their Fall 2005 catalog, it appears this was called "Dark Brown Burnished Calf". I ordered it sight unseen from an email in 2009 in which I saw "2064 – Byron – brown – $129.00".

Thanks for your insight, MWS. I figured I'd give them a shot, inspect them when they arrive and send them back if I'm not happy with them. I couldn't find a pair of Amok's my size in a color I wanted when they were on sale for $99.

Hi Guys,

Should I go for a Brown or Bourbon Strand? Need your advice!

Here's my current AE rotation:

Park Ave in Black
McAllister in Merlot
Townleys in Brown Cordovan
New Orleans in Walnut
Neumora in Black
Neumora in Brown
Elgin in Tan
Neumok in Olive Green
RL Saunders in Tan
Daltons in Grey

Non AE:

Edetal Wholecut Medallion in Walnut
Tod's loafer in Walnut

I really like the Strand in Brown as I feel it's a very subtle, underrated style that exudes quality.
I also like how the toe box polishes up in some of the photos here.

On the other hand, the Strand is the only style in Bourbon which I like and that's the only shade not yet included in my rotation.
However, I also can't stand how the burnishing rubs off so easily with just a little renovateur or clear saphir cream polish, this makes them rather difficult to condition.

What do you think?

How would you compare/contrast Edetal vs. AE? I really like Edetal designs and the price is good. However, being in Canada, the shipping and import fees kill the ROI equation.

2 for 500$ still fairly good (thats almost what it ends up coming to..)

Would we not just pay taxes and shipping to Canada? NAFTA should negate duties.

Agreed. I was so surprised when Allison called as I was not even thinking about them. Mine were apparently made slightly incorrectly but kudos to AE customer service for taking care of me
