Yes, the one in City Creek. I believe the SAs name was Will? Anyway, I asked if he could PM the merlots and he said they can only PM what is being offered by Nordstrom, which is the walnut Strands and the black McAllisters. What did you price match? Do you remember your SAs name?

I think there is only one guy working. So probably we are talking about the same person.
I bought Walnut Strands but with the combination tap sole. The ones on sale is with leather sole. Was surprised especially they charge $50 for combination tap sole.

I was wearing my Merlot McAllisters while buying, if that matters.

What color Park avenue is closest to this?
I would say it is somewhere between Bourbon and Brown. Here are my Bourbon Strands for comparison

Walnut strands with tap sole is the same price without the tap sole.

1st family photo! Got my very first pair of AE's 3 months ago...bourbon strands, then the addiction took over.

On deck: merlot Mcallisters, walnut Rutledge, walnut Dalton's.
Anything else I'm missing? Thinking of getting a casual loafer too.

I'm thinking about getting a pair of the new Voyager walking shoes. Does anybody have any experience with the 1-511G golf shoe last that they're using on these? I've only tried on a couple pairs of golf shoes at the tent sale a few years back and my only memory is that they seemed to run big. My hope is that they run about like a pair of Leeds.

My collection and current rotation for the work week. Planning on getting at least 1 more pair preferably in a Brown before I go into hibernation. What am I missing and what do yall recommend? And in what color? All suggestions appreciated! (P.S. Not looking to get any monkstraps, loafers, width: 500px; height: 294px"> [/URL] Merlot
You need a brown blucher and have the wingtips/brogues pretty well covered thus far. I would suggest Delrays due to their versatility.
+1, you are pretty heavy on brogues, something like Kenilworth, a cleaner in term of style design, if you know what I mean.

Yes I understand that, in AE site they have a separate version of Strands with tap sole for the same price as well.
But in the leather sole version, if you would like to add tap sole it would cost $50, that's what I meant.

In either case, I was trying to make a point that the SA was helpful and price matched even though it wasn't the exact thing on sale.

Thanks for the advice. I just don't like the shape of the Larchmont. I considered MTO but just didn't want to lay out full price at the moment. In fact I found a few sizes at dsw.com on the Sanderson, $279 for firsts. If they don't fit I can return them to the store down the street.
I tried on the Larchmont earlier this year and didn't care for it either. In my normal size of 12D, it was way too big. I didn't bother going smaller as I really didn't like the shape. A custom walnut Williams would be nice, but like you mention pretty pricey. I do like my tan Sandersons and recommend them if you can find a pair. $279 for firsts sounds like a really good deal. Good luck.

Second MTO landed this week... Fairfax in cappuccino shell.
The Fairfax was what started my love affair with AE as I saw it in a few men's magazines (in chestnut/walnut) and even on a billboard or two near the higher end shopping centers in town. I knew that those were big boy shoes and that one day I would make them mine.
When Paul made the MTO offer, even for discontinued models, the Fairfax immediately came to mind as a must have in a rare shell color.

As with the cappuccino shell Fifths, these were FLAWLESS right out of the box. I have been reading that there have been a lot of rejects in the MTO make ups as of late but assure you it is well worth the wait for the perfect pair.

Last MTO should be landing middle to late next month. Getting very close to having a complete collection... until the new fall line of boots comes out of course.

That's a fantastic use of cappuccino shell. Great choice.

My local AE store matched the Nordstrom price for walnut Strands and did the tap sole version even though (as you mention) that's not the exact one on sale at Nordstrom.

PSA... $279 RL Sanderson in tan and dark brown in select sizes. The AE outlets also had a few pair but at $259 for seconds I went with DSW. If they don't fit there's a local store where I can return them.

I just got a pair of PA's. Will these marks come out with polishing, or should I exchange them? These are firsts. Also, they're not scratches, I can't actually feel them. They seem to be just discoloration of some sort.
From what I can see these look like two really small scuffs, and I bet they would disappear with the first coat of Reno or Conditioner/Cleaner, and some brushing. Likely you wont even need colored polish to get these out. I typically have more severe marks than this on my shoes after a day's wear.

Funny thing is, we trying to buy the same shoes in the last two months or so. Remember the McAllisters with tap sole air puffing issue. lol

Excellent. Glad you were able to get a pair. Here's a pic of mine from a few months ago...

I've never seen them in person but based on pictures I see here and on the web I really like them. Are they on the 2 last? There were only D widths left everywhere I looked so I went with an 8D even thought on the 5 last I'm a 7.5E. Like I said, if they don't fit, they go back.
