Who will be the man charged with clattering into Ronaldo? A good, strong, robust early challenge to test that knee out :nodding:

As an aside if any of you gents could take a look here and cast some votes?

We've moved on from a World Cup theme. It's also a shorter poll time so I'm keen for as many voters as possible. Thanks in advance.

FWIW My tips for today are wins for Belgium, South Korea and a draw for the USA.

Belgium and Portugal. I have no opinion on the middle game

I just don't see a lot going for the US other than Tim Howard's keeping. Even the good defense just kept clearing it back to Ghana at midfield. They had but two great chances all game and went 1.000 on both. I guess if that happens again the US might win.

That said, I hope to be proven wrong!!

^ I'm hopeful that the USA will play better vs. Portugal than they did vs. Ghana. We shall see, though.

Based on their abysmal first game performance Id guess the only real (and very big) threat is Ronaldo. Spanish reports suggest Real docs wanted him to rest for two months based on an MRI but who knows ...

the Germans managed to nullify this danger despite their handicap in midfield (ozil). Nani is atrocious, Pepe is suspended, Coentrao and Hugo Almeida are injured. Portugal are a weak side. That said, the US aren't without their own sets of issues, namely altidore and apparent struggle with the heat. If Ronaldo gets even half a meter when he's within 50-60 meters of goal he's likely to fire off those rockets and they're certainly not lacking in ferocity or accuracy.

I hope to God Portugal loses today, the main street of hamilton is lined with Portugal/Italy flags and nothing would make me happier than to see both teams kicked out. If USA wins, I'll streak down the entire length of James Street.

Fair trade, if Portugal wins I think we'll see Ronaldo streak down the length of the pitch (but only if he scores the GWG of course)
