I purchased them at Macy's SF (at union square). Was originally looking to only check out the new cuts, but while checking out the STF's, i found these and decided they would be something new to try out. They are most definitely STF's (those were after cold water shrink, spin dry, then worn for about 3 hours).

They were 34.99+tax

FWIW, I stopped by a levis store earlier and they had specifically "1947 501 STF" the tag says they are cut to the 1947 pattern. They may be positioned as part of their premium line. They were priced $98 and had a leather tag, but no selvage. Any idea how these are different than standard STF?

I actually took pictures of my pair that I've had since summer of 07. They are different from the $50 STF in the way that they have hidden rivets vs bar tacks, leather patch vs "leatherlike paper" patch, 1947 cut vs god knows what cut, made in poland vs made in DR, mexico, Haiti, etc. Oh and these also have zinc buttons, but I'm no expert on zinc vs copper buttons

IMO, these are better than the capital e line, and just below the LVC line.

What a pain **********. So many different STFs seem to be floating around right now that it's hard to know that you'll get exactly what you want, particularly with an Internet order.

its actually not that confusing...

just look at the price. LVCs > PWR > Regular STF , most expensive to cheapest

Wearing my 501's right now, I picked them up last night, I love how they fit from the knees and up but I think I'm going to get them hemmed , they are stacking up alot at the bottom. Still love these jeans though.

You need to soak them so they shrink so they are a wearable size. A bucket of cold water/bath tub works well. Some people put them on and sit in a tub of water with them so they shrink to their body. They will stretch out a bit after soaking + wearing them for a bit. I bought true to size, and it fits perfect. There's many threads on 501stf's in general, might want to search.

Would they still have to raw properties after wash

The purpose of soaking it is to shrink it and to get rid of some excess dye. It won't be raw after soaking/washing because raw means that it's unwashed.

I usually just get them true to size in the waist. They stretch after a bit of wear so it ends up just right.
