Did you go with the standard size? Is the sole a double leather? I had a pair with double leather souls that took a little while longer to break in.

Aloha from Hawaii guys! Just had a quick question. Up until this point, I've only bought Alden's, but never had to sell any. In your experience, what's a good starting price to ask for? The shoes are #8 LHS and brand new, but just don't work well with my feet. Any input would be appreciated.

Yes, why do you ask? Aren't they all?

I ask because the very process used to ascertain a proper fit (whether Mac's method or otherwise) will make them unreturnable if you bought from a no crease retailer. And whether you conclude that they fit or that they do not fit will be irrelevant in terms of getting your money back or exchanging them. You will be stuck with them.

Not all retailers are no crease retailers. If you purchased from a non-no crease retailer, you would be able to return them if you concluded they do not fit.

Yes, I went with 8D which is my standard Barrie sizing. They are indeed a double leather sole.
What's interesting is this color #8 is the most chocolate like coloring I have seen. In certain lights it almost looks like Cigar. I personally love the look of the shoe on the Barrie in person as the toe box does not seem as elongated.

I think the barrie is a great last for a business casual shoe.

Had my eye on these for a few weeks and watched the price go down enough to take a shot. I got lucky and nabbed them for $248, and he waived the shipping. My first ever ebay purchase of new Aldens. New in Box 990 with bags.
