And, I suppose, for those who want to wait 12 months for their shoes/boots. On the special resole/rewelt topic, it hardly seems like it's worth sending shoes back to them to be recrafted if they are going to have them for 9 months AND you aren't going to get what you want. The only time I sent a pair back was maybe two/three years ago or so, and I recall the whole thing taking maybe a month at the most.

I emailed Alden asking what sole options they have for recrafting and they said that they only recraft with original materials. I wanted to put a commando or double waterlock sole on my longwings, but I guess this isn't an option. Didn't they used to do this? Kind of disappointing.

Not everyone thinks you lost - I bought the Vanguard and it is my new go-to casual boot.

Has anyone tried adding a vibram/topy sole to the flex welt sole? I remember someone mentioning that the adhesive doesn't work well on the oiled sole.

Vanguard boot is cool. I am going to preorder the Alan C, wished I was on that the first time around. If the Vanguard had eyelets instead of speed hooks I'd be all over them too. i actually don't mind the extended wait time, gives me more time to save up the cash...when is the deposit due by?
