Leather Soul produces a wingtip boot on the Plaza last, but not in rare colors. The Plaza fits me much better than the Barrie and I'll always defer to better fit. If you're willing to spend the money you could get a pair of Edward Green MTO shoes in a similar style to the Alden Ravelo Longwings. They'll be a good deal more expensive, but the construction quality will be higher. I know Tom at LS has put together that shoe for a previous customer.

Thanks again for all the info....EG MTO might be a bit out of my price range right now. Maybe I could check with LS to see how much of a premium there would be on making up something like this on the Plaza or Grant last.

I really like the look of the Alden captoe boots, but am really confused by all the models/leather options/color options they offer. I'm looking for a sleek/dressy last (leather sole) and a rich brown or mahogany color. What am I looking for specifically?

Plaza Last. Check out the Leathersoul entry from September 8th. You probably want that without the speed hooks and in calf or cordovan #8.

EDIT- also the entry from the 5th...seems to show the plaza last better on that boot.

Good to know it's the last that's weird, and not my foot, and that a little bit of heel slippage is probably normal. The only thing that sucks is I've seen so many shoes recently on the Barrie last that look so nice...is there anything similar to the ravello wingtip boot out there that is on a different last? I suppose it's always possible to place a custom order through Alden, but I'm not ready to spend an additional 25% markup or whatever it is on a boot that's already nearly 700 bucks.

This is spot on. I have the Leather Soul captor boot, #8 on the plaza last. A nice boot and the plaza last gives it a dressier look in my opinion.

Actually more like $800 once you subtract VAT. Of course there's still shipping and possible fedex fees to add.
There shouldn't be any customs since they're US made.

Damn, really wouldn't be that bad. For some reason I had it in my head that the bottom line on these would end up being close to a grand after everything was added up.
Wish I would have seen these prior to this turning in to a two new pair Alden shell this week.

Speaking of, my LS short wings won't be in my hands until Monday. How about some pics from those who have them already?

Uncle,

Those cigar captoe bluchers are excellent. I have them in #8 -- Aberdeen last.

May I ask where you purchased them?

And, nice to see them with the Bordeaux Marcolianis. My favorite pair of socks.
