To wear with both jeans and for business casual rainy days...

I was originally going to buy some aldens to wear with jeans, and another pair of boots to wear to work... which would probably run me over $500 total... I think i can kill two birds with one stone by buying these... anyones thoughts?

edit:

I am also thinking about these boots to serve the same purpose...

Aldens look fantastic both with jeans and with dresswear, thats something I've always felt particularly about Alden. Those peal boots are good, but they look cheaper than the Aldens. Edward Green is another company worth looking at for boots.

What? xenox's opinion alone isn't enough for you? I think those brooks brothers look great and would work well for what you describe. I'm looking at picking up the alden tanker boots from context that just came out for the same purpose. Obviously more expensive but another option,

those tanker boots look great, so you prefer the peals over the C&J conistons (my 2nd pic)?
The peals are $125 less than the C&Js... Also the dark brown makes it more fall weather appropriate, as these will be my go-to fall casual boot/rainy day boot for work

I don't love pebblegrain and I don't like plain captoes on open-laced shoes (despited there being some nice Alden examples of this), so I wouldn't buy either the brooks or the C+J, although I think they would address your need just fine. I do prefer the darker leather on the brooks.

i think you won't get a lot of wear out of it, the extra 'details' kinda make it so you may get sick of it by this time next year

I meant Alden does nice, similar boots (with captoe), which I dig, even though I don't like caps on open-laced shoes. I think I was thinking of the AF60. Theshoemart also has captoe boots. Pricey.

The Alden of Carmel site has a number of AF capless boots--I'd love a pair of AF88s. I think leather soul also did a barrie plain toe and plaza cap toe boots. And I know I've seen higher lacing chukkas that might be a good fit. Sorry I don't have links. Maybe robin can help!

hmm yes the AF88s look pretty good too... about $150 more than the peals... i do find pebble grain more casual of course....

well that is the style of boot i want... i've abandoned my want of the alden indy as it is too big for the hem size i prefer on my jeans

thanks
