The 'missing' leg length in typical short stature is much more subtle than it is with dwarfism.

Dwarves are a whole other matter. He's just saying that leg length tends to vary a lot more between short and tall people than torso length does. I'd probably agree with that. I'm not tall, about 174cm, and while I'd definitely look better with longer legs, it'd start to look kinda weird if my torso were much longer. I'm not sure if my shins developed entirely properly though. Oh, and my dad was 6'2 in his prime. Lucky me.

You can really tell that the difference between short people and tall people is primarily in the legs when people are sitting down.

Also noticeable when you're in bed with someone

I'm 5'9" and would like 3 more inches in the shins.

Commence with the additional inches elsewhere jokes.

Well, my shortness is all in my legs. When seated I appear to be about average height.

I'm 5'8'', but I seem to be fairly proportionate, as far as I can tell. My legs don't really look that short because my arms are shorter too. It seems that not many people have a 22.5'' suit sleeve measurement.

I'm Asian and I'm 5'4"-5'5" :[

If you're past puberty don't expect on growing much. You'll probably grow an inch at the most. They say the time you stop officially growing is around 21-22. But, you're not going to make tremendous gains like those when you're 13-16.

Wear shoes or boots with proper heels, not sneakers. Adds an inch of heel, plus maybe another two from making you stand up straight.

Go to the gym, cos short and skinny beats short and round, but short and buff nails 'em both.

And make up for what's left with dress and personality. Worked for Fred Astaire...

I got my last inch or two when I was 20-21 and now rest at about 5' 10". I think this is probably medium height. Puberty was a long process for me.

Like someone said, working on your trunk muscles (abs, obliques, lower back) is a great way to add a little bit of height too.

Other (non) options:

DO move to Asia.
DON'T move to Holland.

DO join an aboriginal tribe.
DON'T apply for a job as a Massai warrior.

Stupid Dutch people. My high school was about 75% dutch, and I thought that I, at 5'11", was pretty short. Now I know better...

Speaking of French people, they're on average relatively short anyways, as well as most people of latin descent. While being 6'2" at home I've always felt like I was more or less average height (my school was full of giant farm kids and dutch/german people), I find that in France I'm quite tall. On the bus going to school, I'm usually the tallest person and when I visit my exchange student in Le Mans, where there's far less mixing of cultures, you see that everyone is even shorter.

Buddy, at 6' 2" you're tall as is...anyone who would consider you short is a jackass at best.

That whole multimillionaire scenario is the very reason why I would never take an American woman seriously, far less go out with one...too blinking superficial. Dutch (and Swedish) women are in fact a lotta fun.

French and Latin women (tall and short) respect a man for being one; something over which we have actual control.

I'm 6'2", and I'm crazy about girls who are taller than me or around my height. I once had a 6'4" Swedish girlfriend, and absolutely loved it.

Height is a good proxy for social status, both in men and women. Men who date taller women than them 'inherit' the woman's height and status. Women who will only date men taller than them are aware of this, and unwilling to share

I'm reminded of the advice a friend of mine gave me on dealing with short men:

'Big man, big mickey. Little man, all mickey.'
